Peak’s Outing (Saturday, August 11, 2007)

If this was our last outing to Peak's, at least we're going out with a bang! It was such a great party. Many many thanks to Judy without whom the event would never have happened. And an equal number of thanks to Pennie, who returned to her role of party organizer extraordinaire. And last, but not least, our eternal gratitude goes to Bill for his hospitality, giving us the opportunity to have a picnic in such a special location.

The morning began bright and early for Judy and Pennie who headed up to Peak's from Boston at 6 a.m. They finished all the food shopping and were on the ferry by 10 a.m., so everything was under control by the time the rest of us arrived around 1 p.m. The weather was glorious - hot and bright in the sun, cool and pleasant in the shade. By the time 2 p.m. came around, we were ready to dig into the fabulous picnic that Judy and Pennie had prepared for us: sandwich fixings, fresh guacamole, delicious pasta salad, watermelon, and ice cream. One BSLUG husband came with a guitar which was a great ice breaker. Other people played the guitar, people sang - it was really wonderful.

After lunch a group of us walked around the island. By the time we got back it was time to hop on the ferry back, exhausted but happy.

Zoe Rath took many photos of the day.

And here’s a link to a few more photos taken by Beata.

Thanks again to all who helped make this such a splendid outing.
